What Is Bhasma In Ayurveda?
Bhasma is one of the ayurvedic ingredients that have the potency to cure various ailments. They are the purified ashes obtained through incineration.
Several processes are run through to get the exact nanoparticles meant to Cure The Ailment. The starting material can include anything from nature like herbs, feathers, and horns.
The starting material is heated at an extremely high temperature, then it undergoes reactions. The reaction is performed with other minerals or juice so, it absorbs all the quality of the mineral. The process is repeated several times to get the desired result. Bhasma is known to maintain alkalinity at an optimum range to maintain good health.
It is safe as the process of continuous purification neutralizes all the harmful content of the metal. The fascinating fact about bhasma is that it doesn’t get metabolized. This makes it even safer to use. The metal gets converted into active nanoparticles.
These ashes work to neutralize the acid-causing problems and eliminate them completely. It breaks down the heavy metals that have accumulated over time in the body. Ayurvedic medicine preparation has a lengthy process to go. There are stages and steps to reach the final goal.
The preparation of the therapeutic ashes undergoes the following steps –
SHODHANA– The undesirable substances are removed from the metal and make them eligible for the next step. The metal extracted from the ore needs extra purification to remove impurities. The metal has to go through different purification depending upon the pollutant it contains.
MARAN – The next step is the killing of the Metallic Character of the metal. Ongoing subjection to heat and minerals tends to eliminate the Metallic Character. The metal turns into fine powder after the process. The metal is subjected to heat along with metals like mercury. Mercury helps in the production of the best quality ashes.
CHALAN– The process of stirring is incorporated while heating the metal. This is done to increase the therapeutic value of the desired product. Stirring is usually done with Iron metal and sometimes sticks of some medicinal plants.
DHAVAN– The powder is given water wash to remove the excess compounds used in the first two steps.
GALAN – A piece of fine cloth is used to pass the water-washed compound. This process helps in the removal of large particles.
PUTTA – The compound extracted from Galan is known to be heated in an earthen pot. This step is significant in the preparation of the final product.
